The Service

The Initial Meeting

The architect will listen carefully and will prepare and develop a brief which covers the function of the building, budget, running costs and timing.

Sketch Design

The design process is a repetitive cycle: we research, tease out some ideas through team discussion, draw them, reflect on and rework them, coming back to our starting point and going through the process again until a result that satisfies the client's brief is achieved.

The Planning Process

An important part of our service is to smooth the path of the project through the various States' departments, and in particular the planning process. For instance we would discuss the ideas with the Planning Officer before making a Planning Application.

Construction Phase

With approvals in place we will prepare detailed drawings and specification and will make a shortlist of suitable building contractors who will be invited to tender for the project.

Consultation

Through our work with public housing and education projects we have experience of consultation with client representatives, users, Statutory Authorities and members of the public.

Procurement

We are well versed in the traditional procurement method of selective tendering and conventional contracting procedures. We also have experience of alternative procurement routes such as Design `and Build having worked on several projects by this method including Jubilee Wharf for the Housing Department and Morier House, the landmark building for States of Jersey greffier, legal and viscount departments. We consider this approach will considerably shorten the contract period and achieve much better quality control, both of which will reduce preliminaries, overall costs and site delaysPersonnel
